Greetings from Havertown, PA outside Philly.we have a Teisco Del Rey hollow body model # KEP-81 serial # 's a red & black sunburst 3/4 size with those finicky rocker switches.can you tell us anything about this instrument? how old is it? approximate value in working condition with chipboard case.this guitar was uncle Lou's and I know it's from the '60s Jesse Tac & dad

Is there any place that i could find the street value of these guitars? i am looking at one used, but i dont know what to offer. It will get all new electroncs and machine heads as well as a new roller tune-o-matic. The control plate is missing as well as the pick guard so I will make new ones from pearloid stock, possibly in yellow. Planning on repainting it as bright red as I can find with bright yellow bindings and a big Scuderia Ferrari badge on the lower body. It is currently completely disassembled and being sanded to be repainted and refinished. Missing some parts and the finish is trashed. While guitars manufactured by Teisco were ubiquitous in their day, they are now very collectable. under several brand names including Silvertone, Jedson, Kent, Kingston, Kimberly, Tulio, Heit Deluxe and World Teisco. Teisco guitars were also imported in the U.S. Teisco guitars sold in the United States were badged "Teisco Del Rey" beginning in 1964. Teisco was founded in 1946 by renowned Hawaiian and Spanish guitarist Atswo Kaneko, and electrical engineer Doryu Matsuda. The Teisco brand name stands for 'Tokyo Electric Instrument and Sound Company'. It has the usual fussy switches and pots that you'll find on a 40 year old guitar that hasn't been restored. With the hole in the trussrod pocket it seems this guitar has spent part of it's life as a wall hanger. The Tremolo bar is also missing and the spring itself is missing. The guitar is in very good shape although it's missing the original nameplate and the bridge has been changed out for a modern style. The model number listed on the back nameplate is the EP-8T with the T in the model number for the tremolo. This is a late 1960's Teisco thinline Hollowbody guitar in the Gibson ES style.
